Rooting your Droid2 or Droid X (post-froyo)

If you got the Droid X update OTA (or even got the one that Team Black Hat released before the OTA, you’ll find yourself with the dilemma of re-rooting your device.  Sadly, the old version no longer works.  BUT the method of rooting a Droid2 works perfectly for the Droid X.  REJOICE!

Removing bloatware from your newly rooted Droid X

What you don’t like Blockbuster?  What about the Huge Need For Speed game that came pre-loaded?  Before root access it was too bad for you.  Now, we can remove them with just a few taps and a couple of commands.

Stream your home audio library to your phone using Ampache

With a little know-how and a few minutes of configuration you can use your Android phone (or any other device with sufficient capabilities, such as Palm or iPhone) to stream your audio library over a 3G data connection.  The set-up process is relatively painless and the rewards are well worth the effort.

Prevent OTA (over the air) updates from updating your device

If you have rooted your phone and you want to prevent OTA updates from updating your phone when you’re not paying attention you can rename OTAcerts to prevent updates from happening.  This may be good if you have removed “Bloatware” applications from your Droid X and are worried about an OTA potentially causing your phone to loop during boot.
